It is with great regret that we have made the difficult decision to close down this year’s competition.
Unfortunately, despite a significant number of entries last year, this year we have received an insufficient number of entries to make it a viable competition.
We hope to relaunch this at some point in the future but having discussed the above with our sponsors, we have decided to close the competition for 2017.
We wish you the very best of success with your songwriting and hope to see you soon at one of our upcoming courses!

Elevator Pitch 15th May 2017
This week at #NextBigSongwriter we want to get to know YOU!
We know how difficult it is to sell yourselves - that's why we're encouraging all unsigned songwriters to film a short 'elevator pitch' video on why they might be The UK Unsigned Songwriter Of The Year 2017!
You can film the video on your phone, laptop, tablet - even film it standing on your head!
Simply tweet the video to our Twitter handle @NextSongwriter & add I AM UK's #NextBigSongwriter
If you're struggling for content here are some ideas:
- introduce yourself: how did you get into songwriting? - what was your first song about? - what inspires you? - what makes you different?
The funnier and crazier - the better! We'll retweet EVERY entry!
If you're video shy - don't worry, just take your funniest selfie & tell us in your tweet why you could be The UK Unsigned Songwriter Of The Year 2017!
PS - We'll also be sharing some tips on best practise from our expert friends throughout the week
Good luck!
Mental Health Awareness Week - 10th May 2017
This week is National Mental Health Awareness Week and we're proud to be behind the amazing work of our chosen charity - Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy.
Did you know 2 out of 3 adults are affected by mental illness❓
The below video shows how Nordoff Robbins uses music therapy to help improve the lives of some of those affected.
Each song you enter into the competition will support their life changing work.
This week at #NextBigSongwriter 2017 we have got Eurovision Fever!
This week's Eurovision Songwriting Contest finals in Kiev will be the 62nd edition - featuring 43 countries! So we've taken inspiration from undoubtably the world's biggest songwriting contest..
We would ❤️ to know...
Which song do you wish you had written & why? What is your most memorable Eurovision performance/song? Eurovision or bore-ovision?
Tweet our Twitter handle @NextSongwriter with #Eurovision and let us know!
If you are having serious FOMO - why not enter our very own competition?

After the success of last year's competition, we're delighted to announce that The UK Unsigned Songwriter Of The Year will run again in 2017!
