After becoming tired of TV Karaoke competitions The Songwriting Academy decided to launch a competition to showcase REAL talent whilst at the same time raising money for good causes.
They teamed up with renowned music supporters Caffè Nero, who were instrumental in the success of Jack Savoretti and Passenger, to bring real songwriters this unique opportunity.
This competition is ALL ABOUT THE SONGWRITER. It doesn't matter if you can't or don't want to play or sing, we're interested in finding the most talented songwriter, not the best karaoke singer! So if you have great songs we're more than happy for you to use sessions singers or musicians to showcase your songs.
The top 54 songwriters will be shortlisted to perform at 6 regional heats around the UK from 19th to 26th September and 12 winners chosen to compete in the semi finals on 13th and 14th October.
The four finalists will then battle it out in the final at a special gala night in London on 30th October, where the UK Unsigned Songwriter Of The Year 2017 will be chosen.
As this competition involves live events, please check your diaries and make sure you are aware of regional heats dates and are able to attend the semi final and final in person.
All events will be judged by a panel of multi-million selling hit songwriters, producers and music business experts from The Songwriting Academy team, sharing their invaluable feedback on your songs.
